Writing or doodling with a well-made pencil is one of my favorite things to do. When I was a kid, there were only 2 types of things I ever shoplifted: comic books and pencils. I love pencils of all kinds: wooden ones, mechanical ones, drafting pencils, wax pencils, colored pencils -- and the best book I've ever read about the topic was The Pencil: A History of Design and Circumstance (by Henry Petrowski). Pencil sharpeners are obviously an essential item to own if you're a lover of (non-mechanical) pencils, so I wanted to show off my favorite 3 sharpeners - the ones I use the most often.
