Day -4: Wednesday 9/4/2019

Last Night

I went for a 3.3 mile run after realizing that my step count was a lousy 1,073 at 8:26pm. Weather conditions were moist. When I got back, I showered with the $27 bath gel I recently purchased from a place on Elizabeth street - knowing full well that this product is actually superior to their $52 bar soap sold in the very same store; a piece of knowledge I admit cost me a total of $79 to acquire.

While Charlotte got her nails done by Norene, Maya and I took turns doing chinups and pullups. I explained to baby A that the true one-arm chinup is a stupendous feat, but that that there's a cheapened version many people mistakenly think of as a one-arm chinup. The counterfeit looks like this:

This is not a 1-arm chinup

Today

I attended the new parent conference at Hunter, and as I sat there listening to the president's words, I actually became emotional thinking of my mother. Despite being a person of extremely high intelligence, she was denied an education simply because of the realities of having to live and survive in South Korea during the war. Her granddaughter (baby B) will be attending school down the street from the Met and the Guggenheim, and learning constitutional law from the brother of a sitting supreme court justice.

Tonight

I will go to randori - where I'll have the chance to continue working on triangle, darce choke, and guillotine entries (among other things). When I return, I'll wash myself with more of that amazing $27 bath gel, write up some meeting summaries, and if there is time, work on a short story draft I've been piddling with for over a year.

Tomorrow

Is the first actual day of school in New York City. I'll be on the subway with baby B. Norene will be in the car with baby A.
